I'm Thankful I

I'm thankful for my home
Our house is nice and warm
Yes, and definitely spacious and comfortable
I'm totally thankful for that
But that's not only why I'm thankful for my home
More important, I'm thankful because
Our house is filled with images and memories
Of people I love... family and friends
Of hearts united... through laughter, joys, tears, sorrow
Of growing together, walking together, being together
It's not a house
It's home

Rest

Broken and wounded soul
Lord, here I stand
You call me to come to You
Just as, just as I am
And rest; I'll find my rest
In You, rock and fortress
My rest is now and ever in You

To know You as I am known -
My one desire
So humble this heart of stone
Refine, refine with fire
Of mercy i will sing
So new every morning
Yes, mercy ever comes from You

So glory and praise now
To You alone, always, Lord
Your love remains forever the same
All glory and praise now
To You alone, always, Lord
Your name is lifted high above all names

Saviour, Redeemer, Friend
My God and King
This grateful heart, without end
To You, to You I bring
My life I give to You
Restore, refresh, renew
My life is ever hid in You

My life I give to You
Your heart I will pursue
My life, I'll every live for You

The Warrior is a Child

Lately I've been winnin' battles left and right
But even winners can get wounded in the fight
People say that I'm amazin'
Strong beyond my years
They don't see inside of me
I'm hidin' all the tears

They don't know that I go runnin' home
When I fall down
They don't know who picks me up
When no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just awhile
'Cause deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child

Chance Encounter?

Last week, we ran into a couple of friends
No, it was not an accident, but it was "by accident"
Or perhaps, by God's hand
Yes
Hadn't seen these friends for quite a few years, I'd say
It was entirely unexpected timing that brought us together
Didn't really get to spend a whole lot of time with them
Perhaps 5 minutes?
But in those precious minutes...
My heart was refreshed and encouraged
My confidence was renewed
And a sense of direction was strengthened
How wonderful indeed
And I am thankful

Pause to Pray

We've been getting together through the summer, every eight days
It's really quite simple
A simple meal of hot dogs and whatever side dishes come along
Then, it's prayer
That simple
For over an hour, we'll pray
Whatever comes to mind
Simply pray and wait and pray
Confession
Praise
Intercession
Simply pray and wait and pray

It has been refreshing
And a blessing...
Pausing to Pray

Travels

I'm baaack...
I've been travelling a bit lately... quite a bit.
Travelling is always nice... and I like to travel.
But there's no place like home... there's no place like home.

And so I continue to travel... and look forward to Home.

Rabbit

Rabbit has learned to hop up onto my pillow and stare into my face first thing in the morning.
Who needs an alarm clock?

Tim Hortons

They have 3 Tim Hortons shops here. While I've never beeen a big TH fan in the past, I have decided to make my allegiance known now, and to educate my fellow friends about the superior quality of TH over the much more popular DD chain around town. So once in a while, I do my TH visitation.

I did that today. Good food and good prices (compared to DD). However, I figured they can learn a few things from the TH experts in Canada. Well, one big thing... speed. The line up was out the door! Great! But why was it so long? Wait a minute... no, two minutes... three minutes... four... five... Aiyah! It took five minutes to get my order of 10 timbits filled. Five. That's 2 timbits per minute, in the box. At one point, there were three servers hovered over the making of a chicken snack wrap. Good thing we're not in much of a hurry around here!

I recalled the TH Dance in Canada - such grace, speed, and finesse as each server twists and twirls over and around each other, filling their orders... Speed. Moving people along. Speed. "Next please!" Speed. In a hurry.

And so I walked away, my little box of Timbits in hand... a smile on my face and a chuckle in my heart. Okay, perhaps this slower pace of life is not too bad afterall.

I Have Not Dropped Off the Face of the Earth

I'm still here. Just too many thoughts to sort out.
